Synchronicity

Apparently I have lot of synchronicity. Do I? I wonder. What is synchronicity exactly? Naturally I consult Wikipedia which is slow to open and while I wait I hope it’s a good thing. In between reading Wikipedia and writing this post the word has turned up 3 times.
Synchronicity is like a coincidence but it isn’t. It’s when something you read, or someone says hits a nerve, and when disparate events and information come together in meaningful ways; an A HA! moment. And yes, I’ve come to expect it. There are people in my life now (and also in my past) that are there to teach me a lesson. The Universe provides.
Full stop. Except it is also something that my mortal mind cannot fully understand much like quantum physics. Examples of it in action provide the gist of what it might be, but not a firm crystallisation of the concept. It is not linear.
Perhaps it is something not amenable to verbal description. Pragmatics makes me start questioning – what is it for? I can feel the discomfort in the pit of my stomach from not being able to pin it down. Much like religious beliefs and spirituality, synchronicity is the connection between something much bigger than us and what is inside our heads.
I have written this post in an attempt to discover why this word has been sent my way this week. My understanding is still hazy I know but it is the best that I can do.
I can feel something coming to me.

It's not easy, but when you let go I think you will find out what it's all about. Glad we are now friends on Facebook and I'm happy you are here ^_^!

Hi Heather, I love how synchronicity pops up everywhere. Like yourself I don't understand it, but I don't think we are meant to. I think we are meant to just notice it, connect to the moment it brings us and be thankful for the message within :)

Good thought provoker Heather. Yes I don't think we have to 'understand it' or give it a definition of sorts, we just need to be aware of it when it happens and to feel it, its a heart thing rather than a head thing, perhaps?

hmmm, Heather, lucky you! Resist that most familiar urge to pin it down, to name, to define - the old structures of your mind - you cannot recieve this type of thing with the "netting" of your mind...we are more than our minds - we are beings separate - and that being is equipped to "catch" this thing - all by itself, without the limiting control of the mind.

Heather, I'm new to the group, so am trying to catch up and learn everyone's writing/blogging personalities. I am fascinated with how quantum physics is beginning to prove what we in the spiritual/metaphysical (for lack of a better title...the New Age one gets on my nerves) have always embraced. It is interesting to see how quantum physics can explain many concepts of metaphysics in linear logical terms.

Synchronicity is one of those delightful instances that would perhaps not sparkle as brightly if we could pin it down with cold, hard logic and facts. I believe that magic still exists and is there to speak to our deepest inner spirit, via synchronicity & serendipity. Bottom line, both are just pure, honest fun moments to experience!

Thanks everyone! I get the message that I don't have to pin it down:) It's the byproduct of academic writing. I often feel the tension between that voice and my authentic voice- which is why I started my blog.
