I've been to Mumbai, Varanasi, Calcutta, and other smaller cities throughout India and I had to close my eyes while I was riding in an auto rickshaw in Mumbai. I did not think I would live to tell about it. That being said, India's beautiful sights (once I got there) blew me away! There is a deep peace and beauty that permeates this country; there seems to be a harmony within the chaos, but its hard to catch this rhythm in the beginning.Katherine Jenkinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16732133918969183030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-165349633953530363.post-21101768725023803552010-11-15T20:22:06.607-08:002010-11-15T20:22:06.607-08:00Mansi, I think it's important to recognize tha...Mansi, I think it's important to recognize that there are many different realities that co-exist in India, each reality weighed down in part by baggage from the past, as well as the rot from a very corrupt administration. Having said that, I believe the scenes and sights that you mention in your article do not necessarily apply to all parts of India. For instance, as a resident of New Delhi for some years now, I zoom across an eight-lane expressway lined with glitzy malls, to get to work every morning. The smaller towns will take a while to come up to speed with the larger cities. While the situation certainly isn't ideal, I like to give credit to those who are trying to make a difference within a very difficult system. There is tremendous private sector involvement in infrastructure at this point, and development will certainly have to keep pace with the demands of our growing economy. I hope you have had a chance to experience some of the beauty that India has to offer as well.Sai Ganesh Nagpalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17610965235784910260noreply@blogger.com
